Some of our suggestions:

The capital of the province, at only 30 km from Port Marina Smir, aptly named "The white dove" due to the whiteness of its buildings, is a city whose unique and ancient medina is declared a world heritage site by UNESCO.

Go into its labyrinth, narrow streets filled with charm and you will come across craftsmen busy at work. Surely you wouldn't be able to resist the temptation of buying something; the arts and crafts of Morocco are among the richest and most varied in the world. Take the renowned bargaining as a fun game and don't worry, the medina is a safe and tranquil place.

Tetouan was the old capital of the Spanish Protectorate in Morocco since 1912 until its independence in 1956. The modern part of the city, called "The Spanish Enlargement" is a joy of colonial architecture. The memory of Spain is not only present in its streets (the old Spanish names still appear next to the current ones on the signs), but also in its people. The majority of the hospitable and kind people from Tetouan speak Spanish.

Also called Chefchauen, it is the jewel of the north of Morocco. Please don't miss out on visiting this picturesque mountain village, only 1 hr 15 mins by car from Port Marina Smir.

You will feel as if you are going back in time, its old Kasbah, its people wearing traditional clothes, its steep streets and the sound of water from its fountains... But what will most surprise you are the blue painted houses.

Chauen is also an excellent place to go shopping. Stay overnight; we recommend two hotels which are among the most charming of Morocco:
Casa Hassan & Dar Dara.

From Port Marina Smir go to Tangiers along the coastal road which skirts round the Straits. The road is good and the landscape is stunning: mountains and forests fall towards isolated beaches.

You will pass by the future commercial port Tangér Med, currently under construction and which will soon be converted into the core for development in that region. Soon after, you will arrive at the cosmopolitan and mythical city of Tangiers, which throughout history has been influenced by all the Mediterranean and European cultures.

In Tangiers there is an international feel and the many writers, artists and poets who have lived here have given it a certain bohemian touch. Visit its medina, its residential area, have a coffee in the mythical Café Haffa whilst watching the sunset over a cliff, the caves of Hercules and the bustle of the port.

Tangiers has top class hotels and also boasts a casino.

Situated south of Tangiers, surrounded by endless beaches by the Atlantic, this old Portuguese enclave is one of the most beautiful walled cities in the North of Morocco.

Many Europeans are buying and restoring their mansions there, attracted by its tranquility.

The excursion from Port Marina Smir to Oued Laud will offer magnificent views with beautiful beaches and bays surrounded by leafy pine forests.

Oued Laud is a small village overlooking an immense beach with fine sand where mass tourism still hasn't arrived (though it soon will). Once a week, its market is the most typical and authentic in the region. The mountain folk come by in their traditional clothes to sell their fresh products and handicrafts.

If you wish to prolong your visit, you can continue along towards Chauen. You will pass by reservoirs, green valleys and a ravine which is reminiscent of the canyon in Colorado though in miniature, with dense gorges where the mountain water runs down in an infinity of waterfalls.
